This instructional video for healthcare professionals explains the available dosing strengths and walks you through how to administer ARISTADA
Follow these instructions for proper administration of ARISTADA® (aripiprazole lauroxil) or watch the Important Administration Instructions video above
IMPORTANT: FOLLOW ADMINISTRATION STEPS EXACTLY AS THEY APPEAR BELOW.1
ARISTADA is an extended-release injectable suspension. It is characterized as a shear-thinning formula, which means it is thicker or more viscous at rest. When shear, or energy, is imparted on the suspension via tapping, shaking, and injecting rapidly and continuously, the viscosity is reduced, allowing it to flow out of the syringe with ease.2
TAP 10 times and vigorously SHAKE for 30 seconds
Tap the syringe at least 10 times to dislodge any material that may have settled.
Then after tapping, shake the syringe vigorously for at least 30 seconds to ensure a uniform suspension.
It’s very important to do both steps. If the syringe is not used within 15 minutes, shake again for 30 seconds.
Select your injection site (deltoid or gluteal).
Select needle length based on injection site. Use the longer needle that’s provided if there is a large amount of subcutaneous tissue overlaying the injection-site muscle.
DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN
Attach the appropriate needle securely with a clockwise twisting motion without overtightening, which could cause the needle hub to crack.
Bring the syringe into upright position and tap the syringe to bring air to the top.
Depress the plunger rod to remove air until a few drops are released. It is normal to see small air bubbles remaining in the syringe.
PRODUCT REQUIRES A RAPID INJECTION. DO NOT HESITATE.
DO NOT INJECT BY ANY OTHER ROUTE
Administer the entire content intramuscularly. Do not inject by any other route.
Cover the needle by pressing the safety device. Dispose of used and unused items in a proper waste container.
